
Just recently, Leonardo DiCaprio just won his first Oscars while strong, independent films were honored at the Berlinale Festival. The annual Canadian Screen Awards, on the other hand, which is given by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television to celebrate exceptional productions and talent, has also just completed. The award show recognizes excellence in Canadian film, English-language TV and digital media productions. This year, it was dominated by the Canada-Ireland hostage drama, Room.
On Sunday night, Room swept the Canadian Screen Awards. Here’s a list of the awards they earned:
- Best actress – Brie Larson (Oscar winner)
- Best actor – Jacob Tremblay
- Best supporting actress – Joan Allen
- Best adapted screenplay – Emma Donoghue
- Best editing – Nathan Nugent
- Best art direction and production design – Ethan Tobman and Mary Kirkland
- Best make-up – Sid Armour and Jennifer Gould
